Wash and Go using Avocurl Conditioning Butter (Brand Ambassador)

Hello Maicurlies,

Here is my second styling tutorial using the Avocurl Line – Conditioning Butter.

As I mentioned in my first tutorial using their Daily Moisturizer, I was contacted by the founder Jasmine, to be a Brand Ambassador. For this demonstration, I used their conditioning butter to do a Wash & Go.

Products/Tools used:

My next post shall be product reviews on both the conditioning butter and the daily moisturizer.

P.s I have a discount code you can use to purchase Avocurl products from their site using: MARIANNE

(Disclaimer: all thoughts and experiences expressed are my own honest review).

If you happen to buy any of Avocurl please let me know what you think of the products!

Finger Twirled Wash And Go

Hey Maicurlies,

Today I have an updated styling video today which is my “Finger Twirled Wash and Go”. The method I use basically helps to enhance the curl pattern of my hair. For whatever reason, it tends to allow me to get more days out of a Wash and Go which is always welcomed.

Finger Twirled Wash and Go

                                                    Finger Twirled Wash and Go

In the tutorial I started off with wet freshly co-washed hair that I already sectioned into twists to make it easier to get through my hair.

Products Used:

I first made sure my hair was damp, applied the Leave-In, followed by a few pumps from the FSG and then the oil to seal in everything. My hair was already detangled before I started so when I raked the products through my hair I didn’t have any issues with tangles. Once the products were raked in I twirled small sections of hair around my finger to enhance the curls and then let my hair air dry.

While wet

                                                        While Damp

After 3 hours my hair was dry. Even after my hair was dry it still looked mousey! I have fine natural hair so it always looks mousey when wet, when I use Gel, if I use too much product etc especially on the initial day of styling. I get rid of this unwanted look by massaging my scalp with my fingertips to lift my roots, head bang (a lot), scrunch and basically just try to make my hair have life!

Dried (day 1)

The image below is on day 2. I get a little more “ompf” in my hair as the days go on (I also had frizz with the “ompf” but I am happy to get frizz if I also get fullness!)

Day 2

Here is a video of my method:

I would love to hear what you think!

P.S. I am going to go on a Henna Journey soon (I have probably mentioned this before LOL). I use to do a lot of henna treatments (a few years ago) and at the time my hair was soooo happy, thick, shiny etc and I have been meaning to do some kind of challenge. I will keep you updated!

Teeny Weeny Afro (TWA) – Summertime

Hi Maicurlies,

So I came across a post by Chelsee on Natura Magazine – Healthy Hair section about TWA’s and the summer. There are times when I wish I were courageous enough to just cut off my hair especially come summer (temperatures can reach 45 Degrees Celsius -113 Fahrenheit). Chelsee gives a really short and sweet explanation of what makes TWA’s great and why naturalista’s rocking TWA’s have a lot of fun.

There is also a “how to” video (tips) for co-washing and styling a TWA.

Wash and Go with Flax Seed Gel

Hi Maicurlies!

wash-n-go FSG

I decided to make a video of how I do my Wash and Go using my Rosewater infused Flax Seed Gel (FSG). Only then did I notice that I never made a write up of my “Simple Wash and Go”. I need to update my Wash-n-Go Page because it only includes how I maintain a Wash and Go over a week. So I have a little bit of writing to do over the next few days. (I am on it)!

You can find my Simple Wash and Go method on YouTube as well as my Wash and Go with Flax Seed Gel. I also attached it to my Video page on the blog. These are the products I used (I linked all the recipes as well):

I apply the products in that order and have no issues to “trap” in the FSG with my mixed sealing oil because apart from being a great styling product with hold, FSG is moisturizing and nourishing for the hair and scalp! I also occasionally mix my FSG with my “Creamy” Leave-In Conditioner in a separate container and then apply it in one go.

I will have a detailed write up of the process … I promise!

Hair Styles Written Up

Alright guys so I just wanted to give you a very quick summary of all the Hair Styles Write-Ups I have done so far (04.09.2013)

I have basically written up:

  • Bantu Knots (this was done back in 2011 so I need to revisit this style and modify it)
  • Buns (I wrote up one of the 4 methods I use – I need to write the remaining 3)
  • Elongated Ponytail (Inspired by a YouTube Vlogger)
  • Twists (I basically explained my process of how I did my first “mini twists” but I will be adding how I do my “normal” twists which are medium sized as well as my overnight chunky twists).
  • Wash-n-Go

Click here to go to my Hair Styles Overview page. There are a few missing because I want to have images to demonstrate. It is easier to be able to see what I am trying to explain along with writing it. So as soon as I do the styles I will be loading up pictures and making write-ups.

I really do hope you guys find this interesting!
