So one of my favorite pieces of clothing is jeans. I always have and always will be a jeans girl. With a few different tops and accessories you can pull off different looks with just a pair of jeans and a jacket. Adding a little color and bold earrings can jazz up the look or you can keep it simple by using plain colors and cute accessories. So much love for a good pair of jeans and a nice top 🙂
So once again it has been extremely hot and it looks like it is going to remain this way for a while 😉 I am not complaining because I LOVE summer shopping!
I threw together some skirts with bandeau tops of different sizes, styles and colors. What’s an outfit without shoes and accessories? BORING! So paired with some pretty heels or flats and complimenting earrings and you are summer ready!

As you can probably tell, I have fallen in love with pencil skirts! I just find them really elegant and flattering. I actually think if you are a little curvy they bring out the best of your curves!
Paired with a chic blouse, pretty heels (aren’t they cute) and complimenting earrings you can wear pencil skirts to work, a lunch meeting or out for dinner with your significant other.
So as the title indicates I stretched my hair out using my heatless “Blowout” method. With this I really really get my hair stretched – it of course is not as stretched as it could be if I were to use a blow dryer but for a heatless method I love it.
Faux Blowout in a ponytail
Now before I start explaining, I want to point out…stress…that I work with dry hair to do this and I am UBER CAREFUL while manipulating dry hair. Manipulating dry hair can lead to damage if you are not careful, gentle and patient so I can not say it enough, I am SUPER CAREFUL with this otherwise breakage ends up being the result.
I have a video up of my method on my Channel which you can see below.
Products/Tools Used (click on the products listed for my recipes)
I usually always start off with hair that has been stretched in some form just because it makes it easier to then completely comb out my curls. I am starting off with day 4 hair (a twist-out I only used my Leave-in no styling product when I set the twists).
Day 4 Twist-out
Process
Prep Hair – Split hair, lightly mist leave-in conditioner & seal with Oil.
I split the section in half
Lightly mist my spray leave-in conditioner and distibute it. I only LIGHTLY MIST not dampen, this will help moisturize and ease detangling
I seal in the moisture and this helps to easy detangling later and provide slip
Finger Detangle – I very carefully finger detangle
I finger detangle using my thumb and collect shed hair with the rest of my fingers
When I get a tangle I stop
Slowly pull the hair down away from the knot
Comb – I comb out the curls really carefully and slowly
I comb the curls out from ends to roots. Carefully.
Completed section and then I repeat on next section
Once completed I comb the entire section together
Option 1: From here I will apply my styling product to twist, braid, Bantu Knot etc my hair or
Option 2: Otherwise I will wear my hair out with option two:
I use a tiny bit of whipped butter per side
Smooth on whipped butter
Twirl hair and put it in a Bantu Knot
Bantu knot each side
Cover for 10 – 15 minutes with a scarf
Undo Bantu Knots and fluff
Faux Blowout when I wear it out.
I would love to hear what your method is. Do you use heat? How? If not what do you do?
I was given some gift cards for my birthday and decided I wanted to use them up before they expire and during the current sales in town I did some SHOPPINNNG! Let me tell you I looooove shopping. I can spend hours and hours trying on different clothes and shoes!
Clothes, Makeup, Accessories and Essential Oils
I have mentioned this before, but I am not a “fashionista” and I do not really follow fashion trends. I wear what I like, feel comfortable in and makes me feel good. I tend to keep it simple when it comes to colors (black, white, grey, purple and red are my colors) although deep inside I wish I were a little “bolder” (too many colors scares me a little). The same goes for my makeup. I do not go overboard first and foremost because I have sensitive skin so layering on tons of makeup is just asking for me to breakout in spots. I am not a makeup artist by any stretch of the imagination…contouring…what now?? I like a natural look with neutral colors. The “boldest” colors I use are purple eye shadows and also some purple or green eyeliner woohoo!
Anyways, I just felt like sharing what I got because I had a really good day shopping and got a ton of stuff I like!
Below is some closeups of the cloths, makeup and Essential oils I got 🙂
Lets get down to business shall we…and that business is my Twisted Bantu Knot-out.
Twisted Bantu Knot-Out
Let me start off by saying I love the curl results I get from this style. I think they are really “girly” and fun… in my opinion. I did not manage to record how I actually put in the Bantu Knots because I decided to do them late at night but I did demonstrate on one piece before taking down my hair (see video below). I can do a proper demonstration of how I install my twisted Bantu Knots in a separate video & write up (if someone needs to see it) although my method is no different to the other lovely ladies on YouTube.
These particular Bantu Knots were not two strand twist, instead I just twisted single sections of my hair around like you would a rope and then put them into Bantu Knots. Because they were not put into two strand twists I separated each curl a little more than I would when they are in twists. With the two strand Bantu Knots, I already have 2 separate sections and then separate each half of the twist one or two times.
I have a few photos of what my Two Strand Bantu Knot-Outs look like here for you to compare to the images below.
I did not neatly part my hair nor did I use rat-tail comb I just sectioned 5 parts; 2 on the left, 2 on the right and one in the middle of my head and then randomly took small/medium sections of hair and twirl my hair into a Bantu Knot.
Twisted Bantu Knots
Tutorial
I have explained how I achieve this style along with images and text below.
How I install the Bantu Knots
I worked on dry hair that was slightly stretched and finger detangled. I first lightly mist my hair with water, apply my leave-in conditioner and set/seal with my whipped butter.
I twist my hair all the way down to the ends
I use my finger to hold down my hair
I start to wrap my hair around to create a Bantu knot
I continue and tuck the ends under the base of the Bantu Knot
The Take Down & Styling:
I apply a little Mixed Sealing Oil on my fingertips before I take down the Bantu Knots
I unwind them in the opposit direction of how I install the Bantu Knots
This is what it looks like when it is taken down
Once all the Bantu Knots are down they look like this
To separate the curls I use my finger to unwind my hair in the opposite direction
I use my thumb to slowly run down my hair and help separate the curls
Continue slowly separating all the way down
In case I have frizzy bits I finger coil the section to help bring the curl together
This is what it looks like once I have separated my hair
Lifting my roots
This is what the curls looks like after I have separated and fluffed my roots
Twisted Bantu Knot-Out styled and accessorized
What do you think, don’t the curls look light, bouncy and girly? 😀
I’ve got that summer feeling from my toes to my hair! Something for the pool, something for sunny afternoons and finally a little something for when it’s extremely warm while keeping it cute!
I hope that where ever you might be the sun is shining and you are prepared for summer! 🙂
This is going to be a “for your information” post. I have mentioned before that I signed up with the Natural Hair Blog Directory (NHBD) and lovely Rae from NHBD informed all the bloggers that CurlKit is looking for people to write blog posts. Long story short I sent in a post and signed up with CurlKit. They have an online shop that provides a number of different well known and emerging products and hair tools. They also have membership offers (monthly, 3 months& 6 months) where you are sent 6 – 9 different products e.g pomades and conditioners to natural hair tools.
After signing up I was provided a code that I can share as a referral and if you purchase products using the code you will get 10% off and I get rewarded with 10% of your purchase. This is where you can get the code: http://curlkitshop.refr.cc/SNDW7S5.
I just wanted to share this with you. In case you do go shopping…happy shopping!
I am going to an AC/DC cover band gig and I am super excited! I love the atmosphere at gigs and ones like this is right up my ally :D! So to show my support I thought a little bit of a “rock” look would be appropriate. I am a big fan of Black and Red so this kind of combo is a big hit for me.
