Happy Mothers Day!
I have been a busy bee!
Hi Maicurlies,
I hope you all are having a fantastic day!
So I have been a little M.I.A because I have been busy recording a few videos.

I will be pretty busy for the next couple of weeks (with work) and I know I would end up being rushed to record which I detest! So instead to rushing through things, I recorded a few videos over the last 2 weeks and have been (slowly) editing them. I also have been doing a few “experiments” which I will share with you on my blog.
I just wanted to get in touch and let you lovely Maicurlies know what I have been up to and to let you know I have not been slacking!
Thanks
Chic Weekend
Hi Maicurlies,
I am back with another weekend outfit. I love cardigans and while I do not often wear skirts I love the form of this skirt along with the plain yet chic blouse. Once you are indoors you can remove the cardigan and show off the simplicity of this top that just seems to fit well with the skirt and shoes. The accessories help to bring everything together! Again I did not feel like it needed to be “loud”… sometimes less it better right?
Have a Fantastic Weekend!

Whipped Fluffy Coconut Oil-Cream Video is up on YouTube!
Good Morning Maicurlies!
So I managed to squeeze in one last video for 2013! It is my simple and quick Whipped DIY Fluffy Coconut “Oil/Cream”. As I have mentioned in my Blog and in the video is use this as one part of some of the mixes I make. I use this for both my skin and my hair however I mainly use the Coconut Oil/Cream as the base of my Face & Body Moisturizer and would add other ingredients to it. I also occasionally add it to my DIY Hair Gel (Flaxseed Gel.) You can read about my Oil/Cream here and watch the video here.
The main ingredient is obviously Coconut Oil and this is actually the only ingredient you will need. I do add Essential oils to my mix (either Peppermint or Lavender) but this is completely optional. The two requirements for the mix are:
- To use semi solid coconut oil
- You must use a whisk (electric or hand held will work.) You can not use a blender as the blades will heat up the oil and turn it into a liquid.
I hope you enjoy my video! And I hope you are enjoying the last few days of this year with big hopes and dreams for the coming year!
Thanks

End of Year is Approaching
Good Afternoon Maicurlies,

Source: http://office.microsoft.com/
So the end of 2013 is approaching and this seems to be the time of reflection, where we look back at the year; the good, the bad and the ugly. Apart from looking back at aspects of my personal life, health, work and so on I also reflect on what happened to my hair and skin. One of the best ways that I can remember EVERYTHING that has happened is to keep a journal. I will expand on this in my next post by providing some examples and suggestions of what can be included in your journal … just to help brainstorm some ideas.
Getting back to it, I have to admit that I was not that diligent with my journal and that is something I will be changing in 2014. This Blog will help me be a little more diligent (I hope) since I will feel more accountable.
Nevertheless, even without a fully noted journal, I have to say that 2013 has been a great roll for me. I know I could do A LOT better especially in terms of my skin care (I can become very lazy!) but overall, I am happy and plan to strive for higher and better results next year!
I would love to hear how your year went!
Thanks
Merry Christmas!
Good Evening Maicurlies,
I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!
I hope you get to surround yourself with family, friends and loved ones! I hope you spend your time filled with happiness, joy, laughter and love!
I also wanted to say Thank You for all the support, both on my Blog and YouTube Channel! I really do enjoy sharing and learning with and through all of you!
So once again Merry Christmas!
Thanks
Over The Last 4 Years… Transitioning to Natural
Hi Maicurlies,
Last night I was reminiscing by going through photos of my friends, family and I and started going as far back as the year 2000! As I was going through the photos I kept on cringing the further back I went…why you ask? Well apart from some of my “fashion sense” which were questionable and cringe worthy at times… I noticed how my hair looked! Now I really do not know if at the time I was living in my own little bubble (I do remember not liking my hair at all) but I never seemed to be at the point where I wanted to hide indoors because of my hair. Although looking back now I maybe should have! Anyways so I was clicking through photos and decided to collect a few of them to make a sort of “montage of time” (I miss developing actual photos…technology!)
I simply did this in the hopes that it might help motivate someone out there that is considering going natural, transitioning, recently Big Chopped or Newly Natural (perhaps even already Natural!) It is funny looking back at how my hair has changed since going natural. Apart from the obvious drastic improvement after I stopped using relaxers and actually taking care of my hair I notice a change from when I finally stopped using chemical dyes. I was a dye FREAK! I went through colors like people change clothes! It did have its toll on my hair which is why I personally choose to stop. Anyways ladies I think the pictures summarize what I am trying to say :)!
So if anyone is reading this and is in need of a little inspiration…I hope this will be a form of comfort. I started out with what I now call a bit of dry, brittle, fragile, thin and strangely colored straw-like hair (after my last relaxer and transition) to what I proudly call Maicurlz!!! 😀
I have posted the same picture in a new page under the “Mai Hair Journey” Tab called – ‘(2009 – 2013) Summary Look’ but added some details of each row.
I would LOVE to hear from you! What has your experience been? Have you gone through photos too? Are you considering going natural? Transitioning? Big Chopping for 2014? Let me know!
Thanks
